Applications are invited for Project officer position (1 No.) to work in project titled "Building and showcasing AYUSH vanam herbal garden at IIT Madras, Chennai" at Plant Cell Technology Lab, Department of Biotechnology, Bhupat and Jyoti Mehta School of Biosciences, IIT-Madras. Basic qualifications: M. Sc/Ph.D in Botany/Ethnobotany/Plant Biotechnology/Horticulture/AYUSH systems with minimum 3 years hands on experience in identification, herbarium preparation, preservation, conservation, field cultivation and maintenance, authentication procedures and government regulations of AYUSH related medicinal plants are mandatory. Desirable: basic Micro-soft office skills, basics in HTML, conversational English. Roles and responsibilities:

1. Build and host a comprehensive knowledge base & information system for all the medicinal herbs showcased in AYUSH Vanam.

2. Work very closely with Prof. Smita and Ms Subashree Vijay. Under their guidance structure the content of the knowledgebase as advised.

3. Integrate and showcase AYUSH Vanam in IITM – SHAASTRA Event (2026)

4. Carry out preliminary R&D work on one or more of the medicinal plants under Prof. Smita’s guidance..
